Stephanie & Olusola's Traditional Nigerian Wedding Celebration -- Clayton Wedding Photographer

When Stephanie told me that her June wedding would be a traditional Nigerian wedding, I couldn't have been more pleased! If you've never experienced a traditional Nigerian wedding, it is all things celebratory, reverent, joyful, and oh so vibrant in color! As Stephanie and her family are African-American, it was fortunate to have a Nigerian elder to explain the moments along the way so that everyone was engaged. It was truly a treat to capture these sacred traditions filled with love. Congratulations Stephanie and Olu! May God richly bless your family and your union! Vendor ListVenue: The Clayton CenterBeryl's CakesMake up: Ashten LaShae BrownAll Attire: The Oladele ...

Stephanie & Olusola's Traditional Nigerian Wedding Celebration -- Clayton Wedding Photographer

In heading to Statesville for the Horne-Richardson wedding, I knew that it was going to be an extra special day. This gorgeous, incredibly in-love couple met years ago and as  love would have it, found their way back to each other to spend their lives as one.  Together they planned a meaningful, intimate wedding shared between themselves, their children, family and friends. Walking in, I couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous white on white decor at Grace Wedding & Event Center right away, and each of the specially chosen elegant black, gold & white custom details started popping out as I walked through. Shalonda and Chino's ...

Stephanie & Olusola's Traditional Nigerian Wedding Celebration -- Clayton Wedding Photographer

I was so excited to meet up with Lia and Kevin at the UNCC Botanical Gardens for an incredibly sweet maternity session. Lia is just weeks away from giving birth, so you would imagine that she wouldn't be feeling the best while we were roaming around finding the best spots to shoot. Not so! She was a trooper, let me tell you, and she is in absolutely amazing shape (with the fitness certifications to prove it)!  Not to mention, Kevin was a total (loving and supportive) rock of a husband during the entire session. I certainly never had to ask him twice to get in close to Lia, he was always more than ready to hug up ...

Stephanie & Olusola's Traditional Nigerian Wedding Celebration -- Clayton Wedding Photographer

Coming to you on the blog today is Kizzy and Ralph’s September wedding, which is a serious contender for one of the most fun and honestly laid back weddings I have ever had the chance to not only photograph, but to also attend. And seriously folks, how often do you find a wedding that is laid-back?! From the time we arrived in the early afternoon to start the day to late in the evening, it was a non-stop stream of laughing, dancing, hugging, and love. Mingled in with all the fun & laughter, were some genuinely heartwarming moments, too. Like many couples Ralph & Kizzy had never heard of a "First Look" until I explained it to ...

Say Yes To A Bridal Session!

Stephanie & Olusola's Traditional Nigerian Wedding Celebration -- Clayton Wedding Photographer

When planning a wedding, oftentimes, bridal decisions are directed by cost even before desire and education. So many couples go without, certified wedding planners, professional makeup artists, and yes even a bridal session due to lack of knowledge and perceived cost. So what is the bridal session? Well, the bridal session is essentially a photoshoot where the bride-to-be will be photographed in her wedding gown, headpiece and/or veil, jewelry, shoes, and flowers. And from this session, the bride-to-be will choose her favorite image to be revealed and displayed at the wedding reception and later on in her home (or in her parent's home, I never got mine, my parents kept it, lol!). So why ...
